Hydroponics + Organic Certification Workshop
Join the Alaska Food Policy Council and Spork Consulting for the Hydroponics & Organic Certification Workshop, a free information session bringing together growers, certifiers, and food systems experts to talk about what's happening in Alaska and how organic certification could work for hydroponic operations here.
When: Monday, August 24th, 12:00–2:00pm AKDT
Where: In person at the Elias Room, Cowork by RSD (Anchorage) or join virtually (link coming next week)

We'd love to see you in person. Come a few minutes early for coffee, light snacks, and a chance to connect with others working in Alaska's food systems space before the program starts.
You'll hear from:
- Melissa Heuer, Spork Consulting, on the project overview and research findings
- Sundance Visser, Alaska Food Policy Council, on AFPC's work and the upcoming Alaska Food Festival & Conference
- Mel Sikes, Fairbanks Soil & Water Conservation District, on the statewide hydroponics working group and the history of hydroponics in Alaska
- Trevor Kirchhoff, Anchorage Greens, sharing his startup story and lessons from growing hydroponically in Alaska
- Jan-Tia Kern, Edible Garden, on becoming one of the first certified organic soilless growers in the US
- Kim Hatfield, California Certified Organic Farmers (CCOF), walking through the path to organic certification for hydroponic operations
