Chamber Academy - Exploring the Qualities of Successful Leaders in Community
In this interactive session presented by Laurie Wolf, we will explore the qualities of leadership, the way to put those qualities to work in your community engagement and the importance of utilizing different types of support for successful leaders.
Laurie B. Wolf, MNPL, CFRE, President/CEO, The Foraker Group

Laurie was born and raised in Anchorage and has spent the last 30 years being committed and passionate about the role that nonprofits and tribes have in Alaska. Her focus on connecting nonprofit leaders across the state means that she is regularly supporting creative collaborations, providing board and leadership development, and creating a positive culture of philanthropy within organizations. Laurie holds a BA in English from Scripps College and an Executive Master's degree in Not-for-Profit Leadership from Seattle University. Laurie has been a Certified Fund Raising Executive (CFRE) since 2003. Laurie has been with Foraker since 2001 and led the organization since 2015 as the President and CEO. She has been instrumental in creating many of Foraker's services and philosophy. Laurie is passionate about the power of the nonprofit sector to change lives, improve our environment, secure our economic opportunities, provide essential arts, cultural, and educational experiences, and truly partner to ensure healthy communities. She has served on a variety of boards and worked as a volunteer in arts, environmental, and human services organizations. She currently served out her full terms on the boards of the National Council of Nonprofits, and the Anchorage Museum Foundation. She spends her time away from the office connecting with her family and friends, distance running, loving her rescue dogs, and finding sunshine in Alaska and beyond.
Chamber Academy is an educational workshop geared toward business owners, entrepreneurs and young professionals. Community experts present on various topics like down-to-earth “how-to’s” and “best practices” to more abstract topics like collecting and leveraging data, exploring what it takes to create an inviting and productive work environment, and taking legislative action on issues important to your business.
With an educational focus, this event is a great networking platform for new and existing Anchorage Chamber members. Chamber Academy is held monthly at the Anchorage Chamber Board Room, or the presenter’s place of business, if preferred, from 11 am to 12 pm and includes light refreshments. Max 30 attendees. This smaller group setting encourages participation and open discussion with attendees.
