Chamber Academy: Career Connections - Developing Your Future Workforce
According to the AEDC’s 2013 Business Confidence survey, one of the largest barriers to a company’s growth is finding qualified workers. One way to gain an advantage in finding the best employees, while also investing in the youth of the community, is to become a partner with education.
Career Connections is a simple tool and template available to businesses who are interested in creating meaningful career related learning opportunities for students such as job shadow experiences, internships, classroom talks to students about their industry, or mentoring and coaching. There are proven options and available tools to connect employers of all sizes and across all industries with the potential workforce - our students.
At this Chamber Academy, Lora Jorgensen, statewide coordinator for UAA’s Alaska Career Pathways, and Kitty Farnham of Catalyst Consulting will give details on Career Connections and how your company can engage youth in the real world while building Alaska's future workforce. Presented by Alaska Career Pathways Task Force, United Way of Anchorage and Anchorage United for Youth.
