Mandy Hawes assumed the position of Alyeska Resort’s General Manager on May 1, 2019. Hawes was born and raised in Kenai, Alaska and grew up skiing at Alyeska. She has an undergraduate degree in marketing and management from Abilene Christian University and an MBA with a Finance concentration from the University of Texas. Prior to joining Alyeska Resort, she obtained her Series 7 brokerage license and worked at DLJ Direct, an online brokerage firm and later worked as a client financial manager for Accenture, a global consulting firm. At Accenture she worked on projects in the Electronics and High Tech sector, for clients such as Sharp Electronics, Texas Instruments and Dell. She joined Alyeska Resort as the Controller in 2003. In her 16 year career with Alyeska, she helped facilitate the sale of the Resort from the Japanese company Seibu to John Byrne, who owned the resort for the last 12 years. More recently, she has been instrumental in the Resort sale to Pomeroy Lodging, a Canadian based hospitality company who took over operations on May 1. Over her tenure at Alyeska, she held the titles of Controller, VP of Finance, Owner Representative and now General Manager. Hawes also serves as Treasurer on the board of Girdwood’s public transit system, has been a member of the Public Safety Advisory Committee to the Girdwood Board of Supervisors and currently holds a board seat with Visit Anchorage. When she is not working or playing at Alyeska, Hawes enjoys reading, training for triathlons, trail running and being with her family. She and her husband Darren live in Girdwood and have three sons, ages 15, 11 and 8 who enjoy recreating on the slopes of Alyeska both in the winter and summer months.
