With over 23 years of public accounting experience, Joy Merriner she serves as the current lead on various audits of private businesses, nonprofits and governments throughout Alaska, including the Municipality of Anchorage.
Joy often provides training and guidance to Boards of Directors on governance, strategic planning, internal control, fiduciary duty, and grant requirements. She serves on the National BDO Government team and BDO Leadership Training team, and is passionate about fostering positive leadership skills in her office and across the firm.
Joy holds a BA degree in Economics and Education from Wellesley College in Massachusetts and an MBA from University of Washington Foster School of Business. She is a member of the Anchorage Athena Society, received the Top 40 Under 40 award, and is a past-chair of the Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors. She currently serves on the Board of Nine Star, which provides job training to keep Alaskans out of poverty.
Jessie Lavoie, CEO, YWCA AlaskaJessie came to Alaska in 2006 to attend Alaska Pacific University for her bachelor’s and later University of Alaska Anchorage for her masters. Her first professional nonprofit role was with the National MS Society in 2011 as a Development Coordinator. In 2015, Jessie moved to Credit Union 1 as Community Engagement Director, focusing on point of sales fundraising, corporate contributions, scholarships, and volunteer management in the community. By 2018, she became the Pick.Click.Give. Program Manager for the Alaska Community Foundation, managing a $3M statewide fundraising campaign through the State of Alaska’s Permanent Fund Dividend Contributions program. There, she also managed grant-making efforts, granting over $5M per year.
In the summer of 2024, Jessie became CEO of YWCA Alaska, an organization that facilitates community conversations around policies that are negatively impacting neighborhoods across Anchorage and Alaska, provides youth programming through the lens of mental health, and honoring women leadership.
Gary Chythlook, President & CEO, Aleknagik Natives LimitedGary Chythlook is the President and CEO of Aleknagik Natives Limited (ANL), the Alaska Native Village Corporation for Aleknagik. Grounded in his Yupik heritage, he leads with a commitment to protecting ancestral lands, strengthening cultural identity, and creating future opportunities for ANL’s shareholders — whom he respectfully calls “our relatives.”
Gary is guiding ANL’s transition into a modern holding-company structure that grows federal contracting under Nerka Federal, invests in local economic development through Aleknagik Development LLC, and builds a cultural and land stewardship program rooted in traditional values.
Guided by the principle: “With One Mind, With One Heart, In Unity – We Move Forward,” his leadership focuses on honoring elders, educating youth, and ensuring that the economic growth of ANL always remains connected to who we are as a people.
