Event Description:

In recognition of the second annual National Economic Development Week, Ms. Cioni-Haywood and Mr. Tyler from the Alaska Division of Economic Development will discuss the State of Alaska's first comprehensive economic development strategy. The five-year strategy will be released in draft form in early May and available for public comment for 30 days. The strategy will guide economic development policy, inform funding decisions for state and industry, identify opportunities for communities to grow and prosper, and provide a clear path to jobs for future generations. Hear about the plan and how you can provide your thoughts on the next five years in Alaska’s economic path!

Britteny A. Cioni-Haywood holds a Master of Science in Natural Resource Economics from the University of Arkansas. She has lived in Juneau since 2006, and was previously a professor of economics at the University of Alaska Southeast.  Ms. Cioni-Haywood has been with the State of Alaska since 2012 and currently serves as the Director for the Division of Economic Development.

Ethan Tyler is the Manager of Economic Development in the Division of Economic Development at the State of Alaska. Ethan has an extensive background in Alaska Tourism, marketing, public relations, and business development. He has been building and growing relationships throughout the state and beyond since 2000, and he continues to engage with community and business leaders around Alaska.

Ethan is a member of the Girdwood 2020 Board of Directors, and was named Top 40 Under 40 by the Alaska Journal of Commerce in 2014.
