A combination of impacts on Alaska’s economy that began before the COVID pandemic has resulted in obstacles to our state's recovery and growth due to the quantity and skills of Alaskans in the workforce. While there are some good signs with new industries and major projects in statewide infrastructure, the state has lost skilled people leaving for employment or education elsewhere. Alaska will find it difficult to recruit from other states with faster recovery and infrastructure spending.
This Monday forum will focus on initiatives and strategies in progress to help employers attract, train and retain the workforce they need and encourage Alaskans to seek out and prepare for the best opportunities with long-term career potential in Alaska.
