DESCRIPTION:Are you looking to be more involved in the community and share your expertise? Joining a nonprofit board of directors is an important way to support the causes you care about. In this session\, we'll share more about board service and our exciting online match tool - Alaska Board Match. We'll also talk about the importance of philanthropy in the state and share information about our newly released database called the Alaska Funders Directory.\n\n\n\nPLUS\, a new member presentation by Sarah Cambridge of Birchwood Behavioral Health.\n\n \n\n\n\n\nAs Foraker's CEO\, Laurie Wolf is involved in work she loves with people she admires and respects. She is passionate about the power of the nonprofit sector to change lives\, improve the environment\, secure economic opportunities\, provide essential arts\, cultural and educational experiences and truly partner to ensure healthy communities. She's committed to connecting nonprofit leaders across the state and sector to weave a network of positive learning\, support\, and success. Laurie's work at Foraker focuses on facilitating collaborations\, providing board and leadership development\, and creating a positive culture of philanthropy within organizations. She was born and raised in Anchorage\, Alaska\, and holds a BA in English from Scripps College and an Executive Master's degree in Not-for-Profit Leadership from Seattle University. She has been a Certified Fund Raising Executive (CFRE) since 2003 and has served on many nonprofit boards over her career. She is currently on the boards of the National Council of Nonprofits and the Anchorage Museum Foundation. In 2005\, she was honored to be named one of Alaska's Top 40 Under 40 by the Alaska Journal of Commerce and was named Outstanding Professional in Philanthropy in 2006 by the Association of Fundraising Professionals Alaska chapter. In 2016\, she was inducted into the Anchorage ATHENA Society.\n\n \n\n\n\n\nKim Waller is the Senior Director of Diversity and Inclusion with the Foraker Group. In this role\, she assists nonprofits in creating and maintaining more diverse\, welcoming spaces. She is also the founder and CEO of Women's Power League of Alaska - a nonprofit that strengthens Alaska's economy through the empowerment of women.\n\n\n\nKim received her B.A. in Mass Media from New York University and holds a Masters (A.L.M.) in Journalism from Harvard University. She serves on the Executive Board of Directors for Alaska Public Media and as the Foundation Chair for Jack and Jill Inc.\, Anchorage Chapter.
