ANCHORAGE, Alaska – Get on the “microbrew express” this fall when the Great Alaska Beer Train returns. This annual special departure is a partnership between the Alaska Railroad and Anchorage’s popular Glacier Brewhouse.

On Saturday, Oct. 5, the Great Alaska Beer Train departs from the historic Anchorage Train Depot at 4 p.m. headed south to Portage. Passengers will travel along the scenic Turnagain Arm for the four-and-a-half-hour round-trip journey. Along the way, passengers may enjoy picturesque fall views, chances for wildlife sightings and a curated selection of Oktoberfest brews and bites.

“This train is a true local favorite,” said Dale Wade, Alaska Railroad vice president of marketing and customer service. “Tickets always sell out quickly, and we’re confident this year will be no exception.”

The Great Alaska Beer Train includes six half-pints of Glacier Brewhouse brews paired with multiple courses of seasonal fare. Tickets are $184 for adults 21 and older and there is free parking at the Depot. Additional beers are also available for purchase. Full details available at
