In partnership with the Municipality of Anchorage (MOA), Anchorage Downtown Partnership, Ltd. (ADP) announces “Open Streets ANC”, a long-term road closure initiative to stimulate economic activity, encourage physical distancing, and provide opportunities for community connection downtown. Street closures (G St. between 3rd & 4th Ave, and F St. between 6th & 7th Ave) will provide pedestrians more space to spread out.

“As we navigate through these uncertain times it's more important than ever to provide support to our local business and allow for sustainable social distancing,” said Amanda Moser, Executive Director, ADP. “We are thrilled to increase the opportunity for downtown patrons to safely enjoy downtown, the businesses, and other popular amenities while staying physically distanced.”

“As social buffering has become the norm, I have watched our guests take a detour into the street to give another passerby room,” said Rob Delucia, Founder, Crush Bistro & Bottle Shops. “We are excited to collaborate on this initiative, enabling shops and restaurants to increase service capacity and expand safely and creatively into the street while encouraging social distancing guidelines.”

This initiative will kick off June 26th and will go through August 31st.  A map of participating merchants will be featured in next week’s (July 2nd, 2020) Anchorage Press and will be available online on ADP’s website and social media outlets - Facebook and Instagram.

Participating businesses include - Cajun Corner, Crush, Diamond Parking, Easy Park, Flattop Pizza & Pool,. Humpy’s Great Alaskan Alehouse, Lumen Design LLC., Renewable Energy Alaska Project (REAP), Sevigny Studio, SubZero, SteamDot Cafe, Trapper Jacks, Urban Greens, and Williwaw Social.

Open Streets ANC is sponsored by Shaman Traffic Control LLC, Anchorage Parks & Recreation, Lowe’s, Fred Meyer, Green Connection, Green Earth Landworks, and Grubstake Auction. To support the Downtown Anchorage Community, Easy Park will continue to offer free 15min curbside pick-up through June, and Diamond Parking will offer a reduced rate of $1.00 per hour for customers using PaybyPhone. Anchorage Downtown Partnership, Ltd. is committed to a Clean, Safe, and Vital Downtown.
