Goodwill is Your Place for Back-To-School Shopping -- Help Reduce-Reuse-Recycle!

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
August 12, 2019

GOODWILL IS YOUR PLACE FOR BACK-TO-SCHOOL SHOPPING AND CAN HELP REDUCE-REUSE-RECYCLE

Students of all ages are headed to school this fall and Goodwill stores are a great place for fun fashion finds to help you get started on the right foot.

Kids and their parents these days are socially and environmentally conscious. As you prepare your children to head back to school, shop at Goodwill for the items they need. You will find great items at even better prices while teaching them important life lessons. Shoppers can define their style and find great bargains on quality clothing, school supplies, sports equipment and musical instruments. Shoppers will also feel good knowing that their purchases benefit people in their communities. All items sold in Goodwill stores and online at shopgoodwill.com® fund Goodwill’s job placement and training in the community and in stores, as well as free support services like career counseling, financial education, tax assistance, and résumé and job search assistance. Goodwill’s services helped over 6,500 people find jobs, earn paychecks and build their skills in 2018.

Goodwill’s back-to-school items can be purchased at a fraction of the full retail price. Some examples of these items are backpacks, shirts, shoes, brand new socks, and jackets. Did you know it takes approximately 700 gallons of water to make one t-shirt and over 2,000 gallons to make a pair of jeans?* Look for a re-usable lunch box and plastic containers or bento boxes to pack your student’s lunch in – it’s good for your wallet and great for our environment. It can take up to 500 or more years for one plastic bag to degrade in a landfill**. Think of how much water you are saving every time you buy used. College students can also furnish their dorm or apartment. Goodwill sells a large amount of dishes, pots, pans, and sofas. Goodwill always sells a wide variety of merchandise at a fraction of the retail price and stocks shelves with thousands of fresh items every day. We look forward to seeing the community shop in our stores, donate to support our mission, and help keep items out of the landfill.
