Clean Up Potter Marsh - National Public Lands Day 2019
Do you enjoy your public lands in Alaska? Are you interested in fostering a culture of environmental stewardship in the Anchorage community? We are looking for volunteers for National Public Lands Day this year! the Alaska Public Lands Information Center, the Alaska Department of Fish and Game, and other partners are conducting a trash clean up and removal of the invasive species, Purple Vetch, in the area surrounding the Potter Marsh wildlife viewing area just south of town. The first part of the day will be dedicated to work, and the latter part as a gathering and celebration of our public lands and the stewardship work we completed during the day. Reflective safety vests, gloves, trash bags, and other materials will be provided. Volunteers just need to bring themselves, water and a snack! Anyone and everyone is welcome and encouraged to come out and participate in the event!
If interested in volunteering for the event, just show up on National Public Lands Day to the boardwalk parking lot around 10am. There will be a safety briefing, and splitting into groups before starting the clean up for the day. For more information on the event, contact James Fess at firstname.lastname@example.org or 907-644-3671.
