The BBB Torch Awards for Ethics honors businesses that demonstrate a high level of personal character, employ practices that meet the highest standards of ethics, and consequently, generate trust with their customers and the community. The Torch Awards embodies BBB’s mission of advancing marketplace trust and celebrating community role models.

Eligibility & Criteria

The Torch Awards are open to for-profit businesses and 501(c)6 organizations of all sizes located within Alaska, Central Colorado*, Hawaii, Idaho, Montana, Oregon, Washington and Western Wyoming*.

The eligibility requirements are as follows:

• Applicants must have a “B” rating or higher with BBB (BBB Accreditation is not required).
• Applicants must have been in business for three years or more as of the application deadline (7/23/23).
• Applicants must be located in BBB's service area (see above).
• Businesses are not eligible if they have received a Torch Award in the past three years (2020, 2021, or 2022).
• Businesses are not eligible if they have any current government actions or are the subject of a BBB investigation.
• Businesses are not eligible if they are a 2023 Torch Awards sponsor.

The Judging Process

Finalist applications are evaluated by an independent, voluntary panel of judges comprised of business and community leaders who have previously received a Torch Award. 

The Application 

Save & Resume: Our online form allows you to save your work as you go. At the bottom right of each page, you will find a "Save" button. Please click "Save" after you complete each page of the application.

Incomplete forms will not count as an application. 

A link to your application form will be sent to the applicant email address provided. You will be able to view and edit your application after it has been submitted, until the application deadline of Sunday, July 23, 2023 at 11:59 p.m. (PST). Be sure to add Trust@thebbb.org & TorchAwards@thebbb.org to your contact list to ensure that you receive all emails with Torch Awards updates!
