Anchorage Chamber Recognizes Service Members with the 2020 Military Appreciation Bowl-A-Thon
ANCHORAGE – The Anchorage Chamber of Commerce hosted its annual Military Appreciation Bowl-A-Thon on February 1, 2020 at Center Bowl. Local businesses sponsored all 30 lanes of the bowling alley and donated spaces to military members. This event provided numerous opportunities to mingle with military personnel and give thanks for their service. It also helps the military and Anchorage business communities connect and grow a strong relationship.
According to the Military Committee Chair, George Vakalis, “For the last 27 years, the Anchorage Chamber has been fortunate enough to facilitate this event with the support of our membership. It has become a very popular and fun activity for our military members. The Anchorage Chamber appreciates the generosity of our business members in support of showing our gratitude to our local services members and their families.”
The Bowl-A-Thon is the financial backbone of the Anchorage Chamber’s Military Appreciation Week which consists of a luncheon and picnic. The Military Appreciation Luncheon will be held on Monday, June 1, 2020 at Marriott Anchorage Downtown. It is the perfect setting for business leaders and military personnel to come together for an afternoon of great food, networking, and entertainment.
The week will culminate with a Military Appreciation Picnic including food, fun, and games for military personnel and their families. More than 100 people from the business community will serve an estimated 4,000 servicemen, women and their families and pause to say “thank you” to military personnel. The free picnic will take place on Friday, June 5, 2020 from 11 am to 3 pm at JBER-Richardson Buckner Physical Fitness Center.
“The Anchorage Chamber Military Appreciation activities are created to support our servicemen and women and their families stationed at Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson. It has been a long-standing tradition that our military committee and Anchorage Chamber staff work to make the three events a huge success,” tells Anchorage Chamber President & CEO, Bruce Bustamante.
