Anchorage Chamber Board in Support of Municipality Bonds and Anchorage School District Bonds

ANCHORAGE – The Board of Directors of the Anchorage Chamber of Commerce recently voted to support the Municipality of Anchorage and Anchorage School District (ASD) bond packages that will be on the April 7, 2020 municipal election ballot.
The Anchorage Chamber recognizes that, without continued investment, the city cannot continue to attract businesses and families who want to live and work in Anchorage. Strong police and fire departments, good roads, and quality parks are all important aspects of creating a thriving community. The proposed bonds will help improve all these areas. The board also understands that having sound schools helps build and maintain a strong economy and vibrant city. The ASD bond package invests responsibly in projects vital to the safety of students and staff.
“The proposed bond packages represent needed reinvestment in the Anchorage community” said Anchorage Chamber President & CEO Bruce Bustamante.  “Many structural issues have not been resolved and $83 million-dollar ASD bond proposal addresses earthquake damage and seismic upgrades to our schools”.  Bustamante went on to say that “the Municipal bonds are intended for road repairs, parks improvements and investments in public safety.  All are good investments for our community”.
