Summary of Job Functions:

The Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for the overall supervision of Facilities and

Fleet Management. Directs and coordinates with supervisors and staff of facilities to establish operational procedures. The Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for departmental budget oversight, ensuring short- and long-term project completion and oversight and supervision of all functions of The Arc's facilities. Must be able to perform maintenance and repairs to plumbing, heating, electrical systems, carpentry, appliances, and virtually every other phase of building repair. 



Essential Job Functions:

  • Work with the management team to prepare budgets and budget revisions
  • Manages agency fleet operation to include vehicle acquisition and replacement, equipment repair and maintenance programs involving Departments in multiple locations, and managing the planning, procurement, and vehicle buildup processes to provide support vehicles for all Departments. Completes/assures completion of required reporting on vehicle tracking as well as management of the vehicle Fleet One Program. Ensures maintenance of agency vehicles.
  • Recruits, recommends hires, trains, supervises, and evaluates staff
  • Conducts quarterly reviews and inspections of all Arc facilities
  • Maintains building alarm system; is on-call for the alarm company
  • Maintains an active inventory of all The Arc equipment required for maintenance
  • Responds to maintenance request for repairs of all The Arc facilities
  • Routinely inspects plumbing, electrical, physical, structural, and heating systems
  • Conducts quarterly reviews and inspections of all The Arc facilities
  • Ensures removal of snow from walkways, roadway, and parking lot of all property of The Arc


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Must be able to organize and complete reports without direct supervision
  • Communicates in an effective and professional manner with staff, contractors, and ancillary agencies
  • Proficiency with truck-mounted snowplowing
  • Able to drive a van
  • Ability to operate maintenance and repair tools
  • Knowledge of building systems, including structural, electrical, plumbing, and
  • mechanical
  • Skills necessary to operate a personal computer, using Microsoft software

including Word, Excel, and Outlook

  • Excellent time management and ability to manage multiple projects



Education and Experience:

  • Associates in Business
  • Four years of Contracting, Construction, or Maintenance required 
  • Two – Four years of Oversight and Operation of a Major Facilities Complex 
  • One to Two years of Project Management 




  • Background checks as defined by licensing agencies 
  • Valid Alaska driver's license, clean driving record, proof of insurance 



Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to move about 
  • Lifting Up to 75 lbs
  • Ability to see within normal parameters
  • Ability to hear within normal range



Equipment Used:

  • Computer (Intermediate Level) 
  • Appropriate construction equipment
  • Basic maintenance tools
