Senior Medical Billing Specialist

Currently seeking a qualified and dedicated Senior Medical Billing Specialist to join a medical administrative office team in Anchorage.

This position is responsible for preparing and submitting insurance claims, reviews and adjusting accounts to ensure accurate and thorough billing of claims.

An Associate degree in business, finance or related field is required. Progressively responsible related work experience may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for college education.   

Applicants should possess three (3) years of experience working in a medical office performing medical billing processes. An equivalent combination of relevant education and/or training may be substituted for experience.

Knowledge of basic medical terminology and clinic processes, commercial insurance and government reimbursement programs and claims review, analysis and quality assurance is also required.

Duties and Responsibilities Include:

  • Determine billable claims; corrects and submits insurance claims.
  • Posts payments and adjustments in billing databases; prepare batches for posting
  • Review claims before submission to insurance carrier; assess adjudicated claims.
  • Creates, organizes, corrects, updates, and maintains accounts on data spreadsheets using medical billing software.
  • Ensure correct and prompt claims payments through confirmation from providers.
  • Track and monitor claim processing; resolves outstanding claims.
  • Assists with training and quality verification of lower-level billing specialists.
  • Provides assistance to patients, carriers, and other concerned parties.
  • Assists in distributing workload among coworkers; provides assistance to coworkers; monitors and reviews coworkers’ progress; assists in training of new employees.
  • Reviews accounts with credit balances to determine whether an overpayment exists.
  • Participates in the payer recoupment, offset, payer refund request and voluntary refund process.
  • Performs other duties as assigned or required.

 

This is a full-time position with pay starting at $17-$21/HR Monday thru Friday 8am-5pm

 

Minimum Requirements:
