SUMMARY:"Make it Monday" forum - Childhood Hunger in Anchorage
DESCRIPTION:Over 21\,000 school-aged children in Anchorage are at risk of hunger. The link between nutrition\, development and educational success are well documented. This session will explain why childhood hunger is occurring in Anchorage and what some solutions are.\n\n\n\nSPEAKERS: \n\n\n	Lisa Sauder\n	Dr. Matt Hirschfeld\n\n\n \n\nLisa Sauder is the executive director for Beans Cafe and The Children's Lunchbox.  The organization focuses on serving the most vulnerable in Anchorage\; providing meals\, day shelter and referrals to the homeless and working poor and operating a child nutrition program.  Sauder has over 25 years of marketing and non-profit experience and is a member of Anchorage Downtown Rotary and is involved in many community projects. In 2015\, she was named as the non-profit executive of the year by NonProfit Pro magazine.  She is a graduate of Pepperdine University with a bachelor's degree in political science and minor in communication.\n\n\n\nMatt Hirschfeld\, MD/PhD moved to Alaska in 2005 to become a pediatric hospitalist at Alaska Native Medical Center (ANMC). Today\, in addition to his hospitalist work\, he serves as ANMC's Medical Director of Maternal Child Health Services\, where he focuses on developing and improving statewide services to improve the health and wellness of Alaska Native women and children. Dr. Hirschfeld is on the Board for the Alaska Chapter of the March of Dimes and the Rasmuson Foundation.  He is also the President of the All Alaska Pediatric Partnership\, a 501c3 dedicated to decreasing child abuse and neglect across the State of Alaska.\n\n____________________________________________\n\nFOLLOW OUR EVENTS ON FACEBOOK!\n\n\n\nNew to Monday Forum?
