DESCRIPTION:The Municipality of Anchorage is changing to a vote by mail election system. Although ballots will look the same\, voters will receive a ballot in the mail about three weeks before the election instead of going to polling locations. Voters can return their ballots through the USPS with first class postage\, to a secure drop box\, or to an accessible voter center. MOA Elections wants to share as much information as possible so voters are prepared to see their ballots come in the mail and understand how to return them. \n\n\n\n-------------------------------\n\n\n\nBarbara Jones has served as the Anchorage Municipal Clerk since July\, 2012. As the Municipal Clerk\, Jones is responsible for managing a staff of ten regular employees. The Clerk's Office supports the Anchorage Assembly and Assembly Boards\, such as the Board of Ethics\; conducts fair elections\; manages the records created by the Assembly\, and reviews and issues marijuana and other business licenses. \n\n\n\nPrior to her appointment as Clerk\, Jones served as the Anchorage Ombudsman from January 2011-July 2012\, and as Executive Director and Staff Attorney for the Anchorage Equal Rights Commission from 1999 - 2011. Jones received her Bachelor's degree in Business Administration and her law degree from the University of Denver.\n\n\n\nJones has been involved with the Alaska Bar Association Law Related Education Committee and several other Bar Association committees.
