Reduced earnings and lower productivity are among the most prominent indirect costs. Women who experience domestic violence work about three months less per year. A national study found that annual work productivity net loss was almost 8 million work days. Most employers likely have individuals working for them who are experiencing or have experienced domestic violence--which is one in two women in Anchorage. AWAIC offers emergency safe shelter\, intervention\, and prevention to those impacted by domestic violence\, and is currently in the midst of a $3.5 million renovation and expansion project to accommodate the increasing need for services for victims. We would like to share and educate the Chamber community about domestic violence and its effects on the workplace\, and how they can partner with AWAIC to help.\n\n \n\n\n \n\n Suzi Pearson is a long-time Alaskan and Executive Director for AWAIC (Abused Women's Aid in Crisis).
